Who doesn’t love a good book tag?! I am so excited to participate in the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag, created by booktubers Read Like Wildfire and Earl Grey Books.
1. Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2020?
You Should See Me In A Crown by Leah Johnson – this NEEDS to be the next YA movie adaptation! It’s a keeper.
Remedial Rocket Science by Susannah Nix- the start of my new favorite romance series. It hit so many Morgan notes, down to small details, and made me really happy to read!
2. Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2020?
Applied Electromagnetism by Susannah Nix- I loved this even more than book 1! Haven’t read an enemies to lovers I loved this much since The Hating Game. Great banter and personality.
3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To?
Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron– Cinderella retellings are my fave and I’ve been looking forward to this for months!
4. Most Anticipated Release For Second Half of 2020?
There are a lot but A Cuban Girl’s Guide To Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey has my name written all over it.
5. Biggest Disappointment?
Fake It Till You Break It by Jenn P. Nguyen – fake dating is the best but I legit can’t remember any details about this book. It was pretty forgettable and rushed.
6. Biggest Surprise?
Moment of Truth by Kasie West – I LOVED Kasie’s early contemps but the last couple haven’t been great. I keep trying though, & this is why! Moment of Truth had that magic touch.
7. Favorite New Author?
Susannah Nix – I might have mentioned her romance series Chemistry Lessons one or a hundred times in this post alone haha. I LOVE the way she writes!! It’s like reading conversations you have with your friends. Super real, and mega pop culture references but not in an overbearing way.
8. Newest Fictional Crush?
I loved Jeremy from Remedial Rocket Science! Swoooon (Full disclosure: I have also read too much YA this year to make any other choice.)
9. Newest Favorite Character?
Declan Lynch from Call Down The Hawk, which is such a shocking turn of events I can barely describe it.
Liz Lighty from You Should See Me In A Crown, which isn’t surprising in the least because she is amazing.
10. Book That Made You Cry?
The Mermaid, the Witch and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall – the definition of bittersweet. It’s such a lovely, aching sort of book.
11. Book That Made You Happy?
Date Me, Bryson Keller by Kevin van Whye- IT WAS SO CUTE I COULD BARELY STAND IT!
12. Favorite Book To Movie Adaptation You Saw This Year?
Emma. (2020)- The costumes and sets were so lush! But the 1996 version with Gwyneth Paltrow is still my favorite 🙂
13. Favorite Review You’ve Written This Year?
Call Down The Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater- it’s a classic Morgan review hahah. I think it captures my personality and style fairly well!
14. Most Beautiful Book You Bought So Far This Year?
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia- I love the vibrant, jewel-toned colors!
15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of The Year?
What DON’T I need to read by the end of the year? *nervous laughter*
What has been your favorite book so far this year? What are you looking forward to? Let me know!
Honestly, You Should See Me in a Crown is soo easy to adapt. Netflix better get on that!
I’ve heard great things about The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea!
