Mommy blogs are great . . . unless the blog happens to belong to your mom.

Twin sisters Claire & Poppy are accidental social media stars thanks to Mom going viral when they were babies. Now, as teens, they’re expected to contribute by building their own brand. Attending a NY fashion week and receiving fan mail is a blast. Fending off internet trolls and would-be kidnappers? Not so much. Poppy embraces it. Claire hates it. Will anybody accept her as “just Claire”? And what should Claire do about Mom’s old journals? The handwritten entries definitely don’t sound like Mom’s perfect blog persona. Worse, one of them divulges a secret that leaves Claire wondering what else in her life might be nothing but a sham . . .

What an unexpected surprise! I loved this book!! The voice was fantastic, the story was thought-provoking and filled with just the right amount of drama, and I super loved Rafael from the start! He was charismatic but authentic and I really liked how he clicked with Claire, drawing her out of her shell. The drama itself was definitely of the soap opera variety and more related to family, but it didn’t overwhelm the story. I also related so so deeply to some of the romantic situations Claire found herself in- we’re both terribly awkward hahah. On another note, I liked the juxtaposition of Claire with her fraternal twin Poppy. They grew up in the same environment but couldn’t be more different from each other, as far as how they looked at the blog/social media & their social status.
My only small gripe is I thought the ending felt a little fast and I would have liked some more in-depth conversations between the characters about all the incidents/revelations. That being said, I read this in a day and enjoyed it SO much. It feels really timely, with how many mommy bloggers and instagrammers there are in the world- it makes you think about their kids and how they might grow up to view everything (including invasion of their privacy). YA contemporary fans must pick up this book- Just for Clicks reminded me of an Emma Mills or Jenn Bennett book, which is the highest compliment I can give!
