Somehow June slipped by me and it was a slow reading month in general, so I decided to squish two months worth of reading challenge updates into one post!
Flights of Fantasy (4 books)
#flightsoffantasy
The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May- 4 stars. Super intense and a strong trilogy conclusion!
Disenchanted: The Trials of Cinderella by Megan Morrison- 5 stars. I love this series so much.
Rose & Thorn by Sarah Prineas- 4 stars. Dark, lush, and hopeful. I hope there is another book coming someday!
Song of the Current by Sarah Tolscer- 4 stars. Not the strongest worldbuilding but I love the river pirate culture and Caro is an excellent MC.
Retellings Reading Challenge (3 books)
#RetellingsRC2017
Rose & Thorn by Sarah Prineas- 4 stars. One of the darkest, most unique retellings I’ve read; the villain is the embodiment of Story, I love that.
Disenchanted: The Trials of Cinderella by Megan Morrison- 5 stars. The way the fairy tales blend and morph into something new is really exciting to me, and I absolutely love the characters.
The One That Got Away by Melissa Pimentel- 3 stars. What is a Persuasion retelling without the Wentworth letter?!
Rock My TBR (1 book)
#RockMyTBR
The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman- 4 stars. Slow moving but with a marvelous setting, intriguing creatures, and swoony romance.
Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge (4 books)
#ContRom2017
Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han- 4.5 stars. Heartfelt, real, and charming- a wonderful wrap up.
Simon vs. The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli- 5 stars. One of my favorite contemps of the past few years. I adore Simon and his friends. And Blue ❤
The One That Got Away by Melissa Pimentel- 3 stars. Started off strong and fizzled; too much girl hating and not enough time spent with the titular one that got away.
Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbom- 5 stars. The mixture of real emotions with humor and my favorite plot convenience (anonymous penpals) made this a book I adored.
ReReads (2 books)
Disenchanted: The Trials of Cinderella by Megan Morrison- 5 stars. I could read it again to be honest.
Simon vs. The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli- 5 stars. I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading. Just the comfort book I needed!
Other Books
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff- 4.5 stars. Holy s——-, Batman! The formatting was easier to read than expected and the story was completely captivating.
Juliet Takes A Breath by Gabby Rivera- 4 stars. I enjoyed this more than I expected to and I’m very glad I read it! Lots of food for thought. Most of all, I loved Juliet’s voice and character.
How was your July? Are you participating in #ARCAugust? I’m excited to close out the summer on a good reading note!
Thank you for that Finn and BB8 gif, it just made my day. I still need to read The Fallen Kingdom. Hopefully I can get to it later this month. I also need to read the final To All the Boys book. Lara Jean is such a great protagonist and I’m glad to see you enjoyed the final book. Have a wonderful August!

It sounds like you had two months full of good books! I’m participating in ARC August now and so far I’ve read Wonder Woman: Warbringer, which was excellent. I hope August is an excellent month of reading for you! 🙂
