A sexy standalone novel from New York Times and international bestselling author Elle Kennedy. THE RISK takes you back to the world of hot hockey players, feisty heroines, bro banter, and steamy scenes…

Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right—I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team.

And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel—I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me.

I need Connelly to be my fake boyfriend.

For every fake date…he wants a real one.

Which means this bad girl is in big trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. My father would kill me, my friends will revolt, and my post-college career is on the line. But while it’s getting harder and harder to resist Jake’s oozing sex appeal and cocky grin, I refuse to fall for him.

That’s the one risk I’m not willing to take.

From the moment we saw Brenna sparring with Harvard hockey players at a party in The Chase, I was hoping that her story would be Book 2 and her partner would be Jake Connelly- I’m so glad I was right! Hate to love gets me every time. I loved Jake and Brenna together from the first chapter; they had great chemistry when arguing and their bowling date was adorable. I also love how Elle’s books are a lot deeper and more emotional than you might think from the covers or descriptions. One of my favorite parts was Brenna’s relationship with her father, the coach of the Briar hockey team. I also appreciated all the time spent on her trying to break into the male-dominated sports journalism world.
brennaOn another note I’m dying for a Briar-Off Campus/Him crossover btw!! Half of them play professionally now so…. pretty please?! I would also really love a f/f story one of these days, there has to be a female hockey team at one of these schools! Or an assistant coach or something. Overall if you’re a fan of Elle’s writing and her hockey series, you will thoroughly enjoy The Risk. I can’t wait for The Play in October! It’s always fun trying to guess who the next book will focus on 🙂
