Top Ten Tuesday Throwback [1]: Fairytale Retellings I Want To Read

I decided that when there is a week where I’m not feeling the current TTT topic, I might dive into the archives to pick a topic I haven’t posted before! For my inaugural post of the throwback TTT edition, I’m making a list of fairytale retellings I still want to read, of which there are many.

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine– I’m dying to give this Snow White retelling another try.
All The Ever Afters: The Untold Story of Cinderella’s Stepmother by Danielle Teller– if there’s one thing I can’t resist it’s a POV switch!
Ash by Malinda Lo– f/f Cinderella, sign me up.
Bitter Greens by Kate Forsythe– historical fiction Rapunzel!! This has Morgan written all over it.
The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury– an Aladdin retelling with a female jinni!

Hunted by Meagan Spooner– I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this Beauty and the Beast twist.
The Secrets of Eden by Brandon Goode– m/m Cinderella with magic! What’s not to love?
Sea Witch by Sarah Henning– still searching for an amazing mermaid book, hopefully this story with a villain’s twist will be the one.
Blanca y RojaΒ by Anna-Marie McLemore (10/2018)– Snow White & Rose Red meets Swan Lake, with Latinx and LGBT+ rep. Yes please.
Transformed: The Perils of the Frog Prince by Megan Morrison (03/2019)– you thought I’d let a retelling list go by without a Tyme book on it? HAHA!

What are some of your favorite fairytale retellings? Have you read any of the ones on my TBR?

Ooh I love this topic, Morgan. I always love reading a good fairytale retelling. I’ve only read The Shadow Queen, The Forbidden Wish and Hunted from your list and I enjoyed all three. I’m so curious about Ash and Bitter Greens especially.

Hunted is AMAZING and I definitely recommend reading it as soon as possible! It’s probably the best beauty and the beast retelling I’ve read – and I’ve read quite a few! πŸ’•

Every time I see a Tyme novel, I think of you!

I love fairy tale retellings, but I haven’t read too many β€” the only ones I’ve loved are Scarlet (from the Lunar Chronicles series, which I still need to finish!) and Geekerella! That one was so good!

What made you put down The Shadow Queen?

I thought Hunted was pretty good, and I actually have The Shadow Queen out from the library right now! Hoping to give it a go tonight. Spindle’s End and Beauty by McKinley are still some of my all time favorite fairy tale retellings. πŸ™‚
