2018 has been a really good reading year for me as we reach the halfway point. I’m on track with my Goodreads goal, I’ve been rereading lots of favorites, and I’ve been reading quality books outside of those favorites as well. Here are the ones I’ve loved best so far:
Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian
Love Sugar Magic: A Dash of Trouble by Anna Meriano
Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Circe by Madeline Miller
Summers At Castle Auburn by Sharon Shinn
Royals by Rachel Hawkins
The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton
Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
What have been your favorites of the year so far? I’d love to add to my TBR! Did we love any of the same books?
Gemina, Starry Eyes and The Kiss Quotient are all books I loved too!

I have Royals on my TBR and think it sounds like a fab fluffy contemporary, and also really want to read Starry Eyes as I’ve enjoyed the author’s other books π

Circe and The Kiss Quotient were on my list as well. And I just finished The Poppy War and LOVED it!

Hooray!! Ooh I’ve heard really great things about The Poppy War but it might be too intense for me. I’m glad you loved it!

It is a very…explicit…novel. But the worst of it is confined to a single chapter, so if you super want to try it, you could always do it and just skip that part. I know a couple people that have done that. But in general the whole book is fairly violent, so definitely keep that in mind too.

Ooo quite a few are new to me! I really liked Ash Princess but I could have gone without the love triangle. And I REALLY want to read Achilles and Circe!

How fun! Yeah it wasn’t the best triangle I’ve read but I didn’t hate it. Ahhh I keep forgetting you haven’t read Achilles yet!! You are in for a treat with her writing style and storytelling π

You have such an awesome list! The Kiss Quotient and Starry Eyes are both def among my favorites of the year so far. I also loved Royals so much more than I expected I would, and I can’t wait for the sequel! Gemina is such a great sequel; it’s probably my favorite book in the series. I NEEEEEED to read Circe. It’s been sitting on my shelves for months, and I have no idea why I haven’t picked it up yet. Also, I KEEP FORGETTING THERE’S A NEW KATE MORTON BOOK! I need to get my hands on a copy ASAP!

Thank you π The Royals sequel is going to be SO FUN! I still haven’t read Obsidio but I think Gemina will still end up being my fave. You are in for a treat with Circe and Clockmaker’s Daughter! Both so incredible.

OMG, I adored The Kiss Quotient and Starry Eyes!! I think people hyped up Ash Princess too much for me so I didnβt enjoy it in the end- but Iβm glad you did! I also really need to read Circe. Hope you have an incredible second half of the year with reading!

So good right!! Ahh I hate when that happens; I read it fairly early on so I don’t think there were too many reviews to influence me yet. Circe is incredible, I hope you love it! You tooooo.

I have been in such a reading slump this year. It’s ridiculous. Re-reading is usually my go-to method for breaking the slump but even that isn’t working this time. I think it’s one of those where I need to just let it ride out. I loved Gemina. I’m hoping to read the third book by the end of the year cause I need to know if everyone survives haha. The Kiss Quotient has become a recent addition to my tbr. It sounds like such a great book.

Circe is everywhere. I need to get to that one soon. I loved A Dash of Trouble so much. One of my favorite MG books. Hope you pick up a lot more fantastic reads before the year ends.

I still have to get to Circe, and Madeline’s other book, The Song of Achilles. And I barely read Illuminae for the first time this year–I must make time for Gemina!

I loved Gemina! I picked up Royals and it was perfect for a quick, cute read. I was hoping for another story from her exactly like it. Canβt wait to see what Hawkins puts out next.
The Kiss Quotient should be in my mailbox tonight. Thanks to bookish friends I heard about it and it sounds adorable!
