TBR Book Tag

Ahhh, the illustrious To Be Read pile! Whether it’s a mountain or a mole hill, we all have one (and don’t we love it!). I can’t remember how I came across this tag, but I first saw it on Words With Lara. And book tags are always a good time, so let’s get started.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
color coded.gif

I use Goodreads religiously and try to keep my owned-unread, library check outs, and Netgalley shelves up to date especially. I also have upcoming shelves for 2018, 2019, and 2020 books- there’s nothing worse than coming across a book on my shelf, getting super excited, and realizing it doesn’t come out for years.

Is your TBR mostly print or eBook?
Mostly print but I have my fair share of e-books and e-arcs.

How do you determine which book to read from your TBR next?
Hahahahah. Ha. Ha. It’s this handy thing called Mood Reading and it’s great! For the most part, I keep piles on my actual bookshelves of books I’m hoping to get to soonest, whether they’re library books, arcs, or something I’ve looked forward to for a long time. I also love making monthly TBR lists even if I don’t stick to them. I listen to trusted friend recs/opinions of course. And participating in Bookish Bingo helps me narrow my choices down at least- I try to pick books from my TBR beforehand to fit each square.
my thing
A book that’s been on your TBR longest?
daughter

One of them is Daughter of the Forest. by Juliet Marillier. Maybe this will be the year I give that book another try!

A book you recently added to your TBR?
Royals 2 by Rachel Hawkins. The first book was so much fun, I can’t wait to see what the next (sequel? companion?) book will be like.

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?
the silver witch
The Silver Witch by Paula Brackston

A book on your TBR that you never plan on actually reading?
warrior witch.jpg

Warrior Witch by Danielle L. Jensen. I loved the first book but heard really iffy things about the sequel and this series ender, so I’m over it.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for.
spinning silver

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you?
children of blood and bone

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you.
trouble

Trouble Is A Friend Of Mine by Stephanie Tromly

A book on your TBR that you’re just dying to read.
everything leads to you  vicious

Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour & Vicious by V.E. Schwab

The number of books on your Goodreads TBR shelf.
nervous laugh
1296. If I have even the slightest interest in a book, I add it to my Want To Read shelf. I do cull it every once in awhile (bad reviews, sequels I no longer want to read, books I’ve lost interest in, etc).

How do you keep track of your TBR? Is it a detailed spreadsheet, mountain of books, or organized chaos like mine? I love talking TBRs, let me know!

I’m a mood reader, too! I’m the WORST at sticking to TBRs, and I find that when I force myself to read a book I’m not really in the mood for I rarely end up enjoying it as much as I would have otherwise. Glad I’m not the only one! 🙂

I read Daughter of the Forest when I was in middle school and loveeeddd it!! I’m also unsure if I want to read Warrior Witch, the sequel was ‘okay’ for me.

Right now, the TBR is more a slightly organized mountain, surrounded by several smaller hills, plus a Goodreads Want-To-Read list. But yes, mood reading. 🙂 And just trying to keep focused on making progress on the mountain and not get distracted by all the new stuff coming out (although I’m really looking forward to Spinning Silver).

I can’t wait for Spinning Silver. I’ve been playing with the idea of preordering it. I love Daughter of the Forest, but it is the kind of book that takes its time. Trouble Is a Friend of Mine is a lot of fun. I still need to read Everything Leads to You and Vicious as well.

Hi, just gonna be one of those people telling you to read Trouble is a Friend of Mine because it’s really cute and a whole lot of fun. YOU SHOULD READ IT.

Also, I totally feel called out by the “A book on your TBR that you never plan on actually reading?” part of the tag because like, I definitely have books on my TBR that I am very likely not gonna get around to reading and I am not entirely sure why I keep those books on there.

I started the year by trying to cull my TBR shelf on Goodreads because there were like 1300 books on it. Which, my TBR shelf doesn’t include my ‘might read’ shelf and my ‘to be published shelf.’ Anyway, I only got rid of 300 of the books on my Goodreads TBR and I KNOW I AM NOT GONNA READ 1000 books off of it. I’ve been trying to read some of the things that have been on my TBR shelf for ages though so here is to trying!!

Hahaha yay!! I will! A bunch of my books are in storage right now but as soon as I can get them it will be the top of my list 🙂 Oh mannnn I know, it’s like I can’t get myself to fully get rid of it/delete it just in case I change my mind. Yes, here’s to trying!!! And hey, getting rid of 300 books is a big deal, every bit helps!

I really want to read Trouble Is a Friend of Mine! I definitely have high hopes. Have you read The Fixer and its sequel BTW? I loved the first on but I really should reread it and then finally read the sequel

I really should read Uprooted soon but I don’t know why, I just think I might end up hating it? Hee
