April Reading Challenge Update

How is it already the end of April?! I feel like I could say this every month, to be honest, but April really did fly by. I did alright with my challenges, at least one book in each and a few books pulling double duty! 8 books total, 5 for challenges. May is going to be a busy release month so hopefully I can keep up and read even more! I’m 5 books ahead of my Goodreads goal at least, woohoo!

Flights of Fantasy (3 books)
#flightsoffantasy

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab- 5 stars. What. A. Conclusion!! This book was nonstop from the first page and I adored every minute of it. It was so intense in every way; I gasped and grinned and cried. It was great.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling- 5 stars. I always go back and forth on whether this or Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite. I loved reading it again.

A Creature of Moonlight by Rebecca Hahn- 3 stars. Different from what I expected, but it was enjoyable and had that slightly sinister tone I love in fantasy books.

Retellings Reading Challenge (1 book)
#RetellingsRC2017

Geekerella by Ashley Poston- 5 stars. This was everything my Cinderella-loving, geeky fandom heart wanted! Such a fun book.

Rock My TBR (1 book)
#RockMyTBR

A Creature of Moonlight– this has been on my shelf for so long, it’s possible I preordered it!

Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge (2 books)
#ContRom2017

Geekerella– seriously, this book is A Cinderella Story meets Comic Con. SPACE SWOONS.

Keeping The Distance by Clarisse David- 3.5 stars. I won this in a giveaway and it was a very cute romance! I hadn’t read a book set in the Philippines before so I enjoyed that a lot.

ReReads (1 book)

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince– another reread in the books! I actually hadn’t read this in at least 6 years, which surprised me.

As for non-challenge books, I also read Poe Dameron Vol. 1: Black Squadron, Star Wars Vol. 1: Skywalker Strikes, and Ahsoka. Let’s just say I was feeling inspired after all the Star Wars Celebration news!

GEEKERELLA!!! I loved this one so much, I really hope it gets made into a movie even though there’s already A Cinderella Story. I feel like they could make it a little different :p

I am participating in the Rock My TBR challenge this year, and I’m doing really bad!!! Haha. I’ve read four from my physical “stack” so far, but I’ve also purchased six new ones … I guess it balances out a LITTLE, but I’ve just been reading whatever I’m interested in right now. No structure to my list! I guess it’s time to actually challenge myself! I’m also having trouble staying away from the library 😡

Omg that would be the best!! For sure! Awww I’m not doing great with that one either, I think I’m at 3 for the year. That definitely balances out! And honestly I think it’s important to read what you feel like so it doesn’t become a chore 🙂

Morgan, you’re kicking some ass here at this blogging and challenge thing!! I tend to get way behind in the beginning of the year and spend the last six months racing to make sure I don’t miss goals, lol.

I’m glad you liked A Creature of Moonlight! I loved the atmosphere for that one.

    GEEKERELLA YAAS YAAAS

I love all the Star Wars ness you have going on right now. I really want to dive into the SW YA novels but I have no idea where to start, lol.

Thank you!! That’s so nice of you to say! I’m definitely trying haha. I’m way ahead in two of them and behind in the others so I guess there’s a balance.

Hehe I can’t help it!! Dahhh DAH dah dah dah DAHHHH DAH. I know, it’s overwhelming. This is the only one I’ve really read, although there is a YA Princess Leia book coming out in Sept that I want and I want to give Bloodlines another try. I also have Lost Stars that I’m hoping will be decent!

I still need to read A Conjuring of Light! I’m glad to see that you loved it. How was Ahsoka? Every time I see it at Target I am so tempted to buy it lol.

YAY, YOU SHOULD GET ON THAT! (Says the girl who waited three years to read the series haha). But really, it’s so good!! Aww thank you! I need to do better with the TBR and retellings one but I feel good about the others. That’s great about fantasy! I’m surprised by how much contemp I’ve already read. Oh yes, it’s so cute and nerdy Wendy! you’ll love it 🙂
