I am generally speaking a fast reader and an obsessive reader- if I’m hooked, I’ll read until my eyeballs burn haha! And there are many books that I finished in a day or two, but for this TTT I really did try to focus on ten books I finished in one sitting.
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli: my most recent one sitting read, which I hadn’t done in SO long! The voice was pitch perfect with compelling characters.
I Shall Be Near to You by Erin Lindsay McCabe: a surprise entry because A) I’m not a huge Civil War fan B) this book was lovely but intense. Maybe for that reason, I couldn’t put it down. I was entranced and read until the bittersweet end.
The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You by Lily Anderson: my favorite sort of one sitting read, contemporaries with a hilarious voice and lots of banter. I couldn’t read fast enough! I actually read this at work on a really slow day, whoops.
The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater: perhaps my most anticipated book of last year, of COURSE I was going to read it all at once! I’m not the sort of person who is good at savoring a book, I need to find everything out first and savor on the reread. This reached Harry Potter levels for me: I carried the book around for awhile, staring at the cover, marveling at holding it in my hands, and felt such awe at reading new Raven Cycle words. I read until 1 or 2am and felt exhaustifed afterwards.
The Dark Unwinding by Sharon Cameron: captivating from the first page and hard to put down because I needed to solve the mystery! Plus it was so atmospheric and I loved the characters.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling: a classic. I read every Harry Potter book in about a day but this is the only one I read cover to cover in one sitting, on my couch after the midnight release. I laughed and cried and fell asleep clutching the book and my teddy bear to my chest (yes, I was 21 at the time). It was an emotional night to say the least!
Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley: one of those books that just flies by without realizing it, much like the night in the story itself. A thoroughly Australian, character driven novel.
Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill: I have a very clear memory of this one! I read the whole book in one sitting at jury duty, and then I got dismissed. It was a great way to spend the day, and my first foray into YA contemporary.
All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill: the definition of tension, mystery, and the need to turn the pages as fast as humanly possible. I couldn’t put this book down if I tried!
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell: an accidental “whoops I just read 500 pages in one afternoon, my eyeballs hurt” sort of book. I was swept into Simon and Baz’s story more than I expected to be.
Bonus: the picture my mom actually took of me sleeping after finishing Deathly Hallows. Half of my fandom life wrapped up in one night haha:
Do you often read books in one sitting? Is it usually a certain type of book or something else that keeps you turning the pages? Let me know!
I’m super impressed that you read The Raven King in one sitting!! I love Maggie’s writing, but I read her books so SLOWWWWW. I don’t know why, I just can’t read them at a normal speed. Also, that final HP book was THICK!! You’re awesome!

I think it’s her writing style, it lends itself to slower reading. I read the others slow but this one I just needed to know what happened! I definitely missed a lot, which I realized the second time around haha. Plus, fear of spoilers. Ahh yes, HP has always been my first love- I was so anxious to reach the conclusion!

I loved Carry On but it took me a while. I am so pumped for The Upside of Unrequited and more so that it is a quick read. I have Meant to Be on my shelves so I need to get to that one too! I am listening to the HP books right now and man these last ones are beasts so good on you for doing it in a day!!!

You’ll love Unrequited, it’s easy to get absorbed in the lives of the characters! Meant to Be is one of my faves, it’s so cute ๐ That’s awesome! Hahah thanks! I was a mega obsessed Harry Potter fan (still am), and lived in fear of spoilers so it was inevitable.

Man I am STILL so grateful you sent me MEANT TO BE! (The beginning of our friendship, literally.) I need to reread that one. I’m pretty sure I read it in one day too.
I would kill to have another HP-like book again. I remember reading Deathly Hallows and crying literally all over the place haha. I can specifically picture sitting between my bed and the wall in a very tiny crack for some reason LOL. I think TRK was kind of like that for me but not exactly to the same extent!

I love that you have specific HP memories because I do too! Like, oddly specific just like your wall hehe.

UPSIIIIDE! Yes – could not put it down, ignored life.
You and Angie really are gonna make me read TOTWTMIY, huh?
I’m so sad the sequel for All Our Yesterdays fell through. I also one-sitting’d that a few years back ๐
That’s good to hear about Carry On — I’ve been leery to start because IkindahatedtheirpartsinFangirl? ๐ฎ

Ahahah thank youuuu. That’s exactly what I did! I remember reading The Prince’s Tale and everything after that in a watery haze. Darn tears.
IT’S SO GOOOOOOD YOU MUST READ IT!
I am too, I was really looking forward to that sequel ๐ฆ
I don’t remember what I thought of them! I read them but I don’t think I cared either way. Carry On was a surprise, I think because she had the space to develop the characters and story, it comes off better. I mean it’s very blatantly based on HP but it’s fun!
